
Glass curtain walls of the National Stadium
(BEIJING, November 27) -- The photovoltaic generators skillfully installed under the roof and behind the curtain walls of the National Stadium can put out as much as 100 kilowatts of electricity daily, thanks to the use of solar energy.
The Olympic venue has a total of 19,000 square meters of glass curtain walls that are ultraviolet resistant and heat insulating, and they can ensure regular operations inside the venue.
Attached to the walls and the roof, the photovoltaic system contains 1,124 solar battery components, each measuring 120mm X 50mm, according to Shen Yongshan, vice general manager of the project's owner.
The electricity can meet the lighting demands of the stadium's underground facilities with a combined area of 20,000 sq m.
