(BEIJING, November 27) -- The toilets, ticket counters, public phone booths, ATMs, and commercial outlets are all built underground to keep the National Stadium clean and attractive.
On the ground level around the stadium, nicknamed the "Bird's Nest," no other building objects are visible except for some plants.
When the spectators enter the stadium in 2008, they will pass via a sloping pedestal instead of the usual up-and-down staircases like at other sports venues.
The underground VIP passage on the venue's west side is separate from the passage for the spectators. The VIPs can reach the stands directly from the reception room underneath the stadium.
